Georges N. Chamchoum
Award-winning Film Director & Producer born in Niger, West Africa of Lebanese origin. Entered the Film Industry in 1968 after graduating with Honors from the Conservatoire du Cinema Francais (Paris). Directed and Produced over 35 features between Europe, Africa, Middle East & the USA, most of them Award-Winning Films (Feature and Documentaries) at various International Film Festival, Cannes, Berlin, Cairo, Moscow etc…. Directed his 1st Feature Film Salam after Death at age 21. His movies have always been socially and politically minded.
Georges Chamchoum was Jury Delegate all through the 80’s for Le Festival du Film Fantastique et de Science Fiction de Paris, (Horror an Science Fiction Films) France which is a leading Festival in the genre. A Festival that discovered Steven Spielberg, Sam Raimi, Joe Dante and many other leading Directors.Board member of NDU (Notre Dame University) Film Festival, Lebanon.
In addition to Filmmaking Georges Chamchoum has a passion for Photography which earned him several Awards and his photos have been published in Magazines and are owned by many Celebrities in the Entertainment, Political and Financial World.
Attended school in Lebanon, France and Germany. Attended University in Wales then went on to study film making – Director – in Poland and France.
Trained under Roman Polanski and Andrei Tarkovski.
His last Feature Absolute Evil Directed by Ulli Lommel was Selected at the Berlin Film Festival. 2011 completed a Feature Documentary My Journey into Faith, which he calls “my most personal movie ever – and I had to do it just for my own pleasure”.
2012 finished a Short Two Weeks at Dawn in December. Currently filming a Feature Documentary Survivors: Children of War produced by John Reed and which will be ready for 2013 release.
Since 2007 he has been Artistic & Program Director of The Monaco Charity Film Festival, in Monte Carlo.
