Quoted in THE OXFORD HISTORY OF WORLD CINEMA, the definitive history of cinema world-wide, Oxford University: “[…] It was not until the 1970’s that a number of talented western-trained Lebanese film-makers- Georges Chamchoum, Jocelyne Saab, Heiny Srour & Borhan Alaouya- emerged and began to treat social and political problems of their country in a number of features strongly influenced by documentary techniques.”
Emmy and multiple Award-winning Film Director & Producer born in Niger, West Africa of Lebanese origin. Entered the Film Industry in 1968 after graduating with Honors from the Conservatoire du Cinema Francais (Paris). Directed and Produced over 35 features between Europe, Africa, Middle East & the USA, most of them Award-Winning Films (Feature and Documentaries) at various International Film Festivals: Cannes, Cairo, Carthage, Teheran, Moscow, Milan….
He Directed his 1st Feature Salam, After Death at age 21.
His movies have always been socially and politically minded with a Hollywood flair.
His Documentaries are a cry for freedom and justice – no matter what side you’re on!
Georges Chamchoum was Jury Delegate all through the 80’s for Le Festival du Film Fantastique et de Science Fiction de Paris, (Horror an Science Fiction Films) France which is a leading Festival in the genre. A Festival that discovered Steven Spielberg, Sam Raimi, Joe Dante and many other leading Directors.
In addition to Filmmaking Georges Chamchoum has a passion for Photography which earned him several Awards and his photos are owned by many Celebrities in the Entertainment, Political and Financial World.
Attended school in Lebanon, France and Germany. Attended University in Wales then went on to study film making – Director – in France then after Graduating from the Conservatoire in Paris went to Poland.
Now resides in Los Angeles, California for the past 24 years.
Currently beside his involvement in filmmaking he is the Executive Director & Program Director of Monaco Charity Film Festival, in Monte Carlo, www.monacofilmfestival.org – for the past 6 years. On the Board of NDU (Notre Dame University) Short Film Festival (Lebanon); Advisor for PPFF (Pan Pacific Film Festival, Los Angeles) and Founder of the upcoming International Film Festival in Lagos (Nigeria), in 2014.
Completed end of 2011 a Feature Documentary Journey into my Faith filmed entirely in Turkey. Just finished a Short December Dawn and currently editing another Short part of my Trilogy on Faith: Prayer! Also filming a Feature Documentary: Survivors: Children of War, and in pre-Production for a Feature Documentary to be shot in Nigeria in 2013.

Vicente-Andres Zaragoza’s Sports Strategy Film called “Passion Wins” was the main feature film-Documentary for MCFF 2013.
All the players of the Monaco Football Team under the care of Dr. Philip Johnson came to view “Passion Wins” to improve the development of their Mind, Body and Spirit. Two days later.. . the Monaco football team won their game and were upgraded to league 1 level. Passion Wins was a film made by all the organizers and workers of MCFF. The project director Inga was our main sports personality in the movie. Our managing director Lia Popescu was the star. Our program director Georges Chamchoum was the adviser. Our Sports Consultant and master of ceremonies – Cedric Sbirazzoli, was also a star in the movie. Passion Wins was a joint effort from everyone involved with MCFF. .. it was our gift to Monaco and to the rest of the world…. and in the end….it became… Monaco Wins
